During the past 33 years in the Northwest Territories Peter has worked in a variety of positions. From a field biologist studying grizzly bears and wolves, to supervising staff managing renewable resources. In November 2006 he accepted the position of Regional Director for the Beaufort Delta and Sahtu Regions. This position is with the Department of the Executive and Indigenous Affairs, GNWT, and is responsible for overall coordination and implementation of inter-departmental initiatives. Peter is very familiar with all of the communities in the Beaufort Delta and Sahtu, government operations, and land claim settlements. During the past 8 years Peter has worked on the Mackenzie Valley Fibre Link Project, the Inuvik Satellite Station Facility, and the Inuvik-Tuk Highway Project. His current focus is on developing the knowledge economy in the Northwest Territories.
Previous to this position Peter was the Mayor of Inuvik from November 2000 to November 2006. While Mayor his main focus was on improving community infrastructure and making Inuvik a great place to live and visit.
When not working Peter enjoys the outdoors and community life. Spending time on the land with his family and friends helps keep the balance needed for an enjoyable life.
