Pietro Di Zanno has had a varied professional career. He has had technical, marketing and sales positions within his 30+ years work experience.
Starting in 1985 as a process engineer for Shell Canada Products’ Montreal East Refinery, he also had the opportunity to operate the hydrotreating complex, while also being responsible for the site’s chemical, lubes and bitumen plants (1989). He was transferred to The Hague, The Netherlands for Shell International in 1991 and in 1992 he returned to Montreal as a bottom of the barrel and lubes specialist till 1995.
In 1995 he became a Business Development Manager in London, Ontario for Air Liquide Canada Inc. He led the Refining and Chemical market team from Calgary, Alberta in 1998. In 2000, he became the Global Market Manager for the Oil and Gas Market, from Air Liquide’s headquarters in Paris, France.
In 2009, he led a team of experts in Lurgi’s Chemical Conversion Market, supporting sales efforts for methanol, DME, methanol to propylene, gasification, prospects and projects etc. He was asked to support the successful sale of the license and equipment supply for the OCI methanol project in Beaumont, Texas between 2013 and 2014. He has extensive experience in gas to liquids technologies’ product management and commercialization.
Pietro returned to Calgary in January, 2014, as Director of Major Projects, Business Development. He is responsible for the Air Liquide Global E&C Solutions, Canada LP’s sales in Canada across its technology portfolio.
Pietro is a graduate of McGill University, with a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering (1985) and a Masters of Business Administration (1992). He has executive training (innovations) from MIT (2006). He currently holds six patents on oxy-combustion, inerting atmospheres and other processes.
